CowParade Surrey Hills Official Launch – Sunday 8 November

cow_parade_logoThis Sunday 8 November sees the official launch of CowParade Surrey Hills at Sandown Park Racecourse’s Countryside Day in Esher. CowParade is the world’s largest public art event which will see dozens of brightly coloured, life-sized fibreglass cows being displayed throughout the entire county of Surrey from May to August 2016.

The aim of this exciting project is to raise the profile of Surrey and particularly the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and raise money for charity.

birthaThe launch will take place at Sandown Park’s Countryside Day, where the official Surrey Hills cow will be unveiled! It promises to be a fantastic day for all the family. Enjoy some exhilarating National Hunt action as well as lots of activities including pony rides, a petting farm, demonstrations, live music, falconry and Birds of Prey display and much, much more

CowParade Surrey Hills is calling out to organisations and individuals to get involved and sponsor a cow, which they can either decorate themselves or commission artists to create original works of art on blank fibreglass cow “canvases” for display around the county. The decorated herd will then be unleashed to graze in various high-traffic locations around Surrey from May to September 2016 for tourists and locals alike to enjoy. The moo-ving exhibit will culminate in a gala and auction, with proceeds benefiting multiple local charities.

Artist Alexander Creswell has agreed to be patron of CowParade Surrey Hills and comments;
“The Surrey Hills CowParade provides an extraordinary opportunity for the community and celebrates our remarkable local landscape and heritage through art. It is a brilliant platform for generating creativity and for bringing together businesses, schools and individuals across Surrey, it will also be a huge amount of fun”.
