Beautiful, Cowntess Alice was created by the bereaved children in the Dovetail Group at Princess Alice Hospice and gifted artist, Emma Allen. Aged from just 4 to 11 years old, the children come to our monthly Dovetail Group to meet and make friends. Guided by our specially trained team they use arts and crafts to help express their feelings, to start talking about the person they’ve lost and begin to manage their emotions better.
The boys and girls were excited to be able to use a special group session to let their imaginations run free – decorating our cow with their own multi-coloured mini cow portraits and drawings of exotic animals including lions, elephants and a wonderful peacock on her forehead! Artist, Emma then skilfully linked the images into a unifying design. The finished work was unveiled by our wonderful sponsor, Exponent, at the Dovetail children’s annual family picnic.
The whole process has been great fun and the children say decorating Cowntess Alice was the best ever! We hope that she goes to a good home but it would be lovely to have her back for visits if that was at all possible – everyone at our Hospice has become quite attached to her!
The proceeds of Cowntess Alice’s sale will be split between the Surrey Hills Trust Fund and Princess Alice Hospice
