Local abstract artist Poppy Porter transformed the Mayor of Guildford’s official CowParade entry into a work of art with an original, eye-catching design to reflect the Mayor’s theme of innovation and ‘Inspiring Tomorrow’s Solutions Today’. Immoovate Guildford’s distinctive design was inspired by the structure of the neuron, an essential part of our brain and nervous system, where innovation, ideas and inspiration come from.

Mayor, Gordon Jackson, has commented, “My overall theme is to celebrate Guildford’s role at the heart of innovation and promote the importance of meeting the challenges of the future by encouraging innovative, sustainable solutions, balancing the needs of our society with smart economic growth while protecting our natural environment. Immoovate Guildford captures perfectly the spirit of my mayoral theme.”

Artist Poppy Porter explained: “Immoovate Guildford features an intricate network of linked hubs that echo the way neurons are joined. The design works on two levels – to show where ideas and innovation come from, and to represent human networks, communications and collaborations. All the hubs in the design are connected representing a healthy mind as a product of a healthy environment that encourages the free flow of ideas.”

The Mayor’s chosen charities – Surrey Cancer Research Institute and Surrey Hills Trust Fund – reflect the mayoral theme of promoting innovation and balanced growth alongside the protection of our natural environment.
