Parsley was created by artist Maggie Kyriacou of Shere and Chilworth2gether artist Maggie Scott; she represents the Tillingbourne Valley as part of the, ‘Tales and Trails of the Tillingbourne Valley’ project.
The 2 artists created Parsley by wrapping an accurate drawing of the River Tillingbourne right round the cow’s body. With sky above, and grass below, they then started drawing Cow Parsley and other leaves to make stencils with which to paint the cow. Phoenix Re-finishers, a car body shop company based in Gomshall, professionally sprayed the cow with her base colours. Gradually the design came to life as the layers of stencils were applied, finally she was completed with a dragonfly on her head and butterflies & dragonflies on her body.
The proceeds of Parsley’s sale will be split between the Surrey Hills Trust Fund and Shere Museum, where a new Tillingbourne Gallery is being created.
