Kids will also be able to get creative by colouring in one of our MiniMoos!
Tim Metson, CowParade Leader comments;
“We are really excited to officially launch CowParade Surrey at the Surrey County Show, the biggest one day agricultural show in the UK. We encourage you to come visit our marquee, see the cows for yourself and download our specially designed app which will allow you to go out and find all the cows throughout Surrey during the summer”.
It’s been a busy few months for CowParade Surrey with over 60 Cows having been sponsored by businesses including Vines BMW, Waitrose, The Friary Guildford, GA Telesis, STIHL, RHS Wisley, SKANSKA, Scott Brownrigg and more… Schools have also embraced the concept with over 30 taking Mini Moos which have been lovingly designed and decorated by pupils.
The cow parade mooover and trailer, kindly supplied by Vines BMW & UniTrail has been busy delivering cows out to artists who have worked their magic bringing the white ‘cow’ canvases to life. World renowned artist and arts patron of CowParade Surrey, Alexander Creswell who lives in the Surrey Hills comments; “I am thrilled to be Patron of this inspiring event. CowParade Surrey provides an extraordinary opportunity for the community and celebrates our remarkable local landscape and heritage through Art. The CowParade is a brilliant platform for generating creativity and for bringing together businesses, schools and individuals across Surrey, it will also be a huge amount of fun!”
The cows will be put out to graze and will be dotted around Surrey from 1 June until the end of August for all to see and then the fun really begins! A specially designed app, created by digital design agency Akiko Design, is free to download from cowparadesurreyhills.com and will allow you to ‘check in’ to each cow as it’s found. You’ll discover lots about each cow, be able to win rosettes, take part in quizzes and more. Those who find the most cows will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury Kuoni holiday for two to Mauritius!
The autumn will see the cows auctioned off for charity. Each cow sponsor gets to choose a charity of their own to benefit from half of the auction proceeds, with the other 50 per cent going to the Surrey Hills Trust Fund, established in partnership with the Community Foundation for Surrey to conserve and protect the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The fund supports local community projects and enterprise schemes that benefit and enhance the Surrey Hills. Wendy Varcoe, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for Surrey comments; “The Surrey Hills Trust Fund is an exciting local initiative enabling local residents to donate now to protect and conserve the stunning natural landscape and help local communities to access and enjoy the Surrey Hills for generations to come.”
